MANILA, Philippines – Yesterday, March 6, President Rodrigo Duterte appoints Court of Appeals (CA) justice Amy Lazaro Javier as Supreme Court Associate Justice. She filled up the post vacated by retired Associate Justice Noel Tijam.

Justice Javier, now 62, is scheduled to retire in November 2026 yet.

Upon graduating as valedictorian in 1982 at Sto. Tomas University and passing the bar the same year, she immediately entered public service as a trial attorney at the Office of the Solicitor General.

Interestingly, SC’s new associate justice applied for the post 8 times before under the administration of President Duterte but was shortlisted.
